Street Closure Announced in Hastings

Beginning Monday, July 27, 2026, West B Street, directly south of the Hastings Police Department, will be closed to through traffic while construction is underway to improve public parking at the Police Department.

Motorists will still be able to turn from South Burlington Avenue into Arby's and access the west parking lot of the Hastings Police Department.

During construction, visitors to the Police Department should use the west parking lot rather than the east parking lot. The west sidewalk leading to the south entrance of the Police Department will remain open to provide safe access to the building.

The temporary street closure is necessary to protect both construction crews and the public as new parking improvements are completed. Because the Police Department's main public entrance is located on the south side of the building, but no parking currently exists adjacent to that entrance, visitors are often required to walk a considerable distance. This project will improve public access by adding several new parking spaces, creating a redesigned ADA-accessible parking stall, and providing a dedicated off-street short-term delivery parking area.

Construction is expected to take approximately two to three weeks, weather permitting.

The Hastings Police Department appreciates the public's patience and understanding while these improvements are completed.

Residents who need law enforcement assistance are reminded that they may call the Hastings Police Department's non-emergency number at 402-461-2380 rather than traveling to the Police Department.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to improve accessibility and convenience for everyone visiting the Hastings Police Department. Any questions may be directed to Capt. Jason Haase at 402-461-2380.
