Jun 28, 2022 / Tyson Havranek

Nebraska has identified its first case of monkeypox.
A Douglas County male in his 30s with recent international travel is expected to be confirmed as monkeypox by follow up testing by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The DHHS is working with the county and the CDC to investigate potential exposures.
Monkeypox is not a traditional sexually transmitted infection but can be transmitted through prolonged physical contact, such as sexual intimacy.
