Season Comes to an End for Northwest Girls Soccer

(Grand Island, NE) - An incredible run came to an end on Saturday at Viking Field as the Northwest girl's soccer team fell to Omaha Gross Catholic 1-0 in a Class B District Final match sending the Cougars to the state tournament in Omaha. The lone goal came in the 16th minute as Gross Catholic would head a ball up and over Northwest keeper Felicia Johansson. Bryndal Moody would then try to clear out the ball before it got to the goal line but the rescue was too late. Northwest late in the first half would have a free kick off a Gross Catholic handball but would come up short on an overshoot on goal. In the 2nd half, Northwest would get multiple looks on goal with a few close calls for the Gross Catholic keeper but the Vikings would come up empty.

The Vikings end the season with a 16-1 record. Northwest outscored their opponents this season 95-2.
