Huskers Add Utah Star Hamlin
Utah Class 4A Player of the Year Olivia Hamlin will join the Huskers for the 2025-26 season, Nebraska women's basketball head coach Amy Williams announced on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Hamlin, a 5-9 guard from St. George, Utah, was ranked as the No. 2 player in the state by Prep Girls Hoops and the No. 59 player in the country by Prospects Nation.
"We could not be more excited to add Olivia to our Husker women's basketball family," Williams said. "Her passion for basketball, competing and just life in general is contagious. She fits perfectly in our system on both sides of the ball, and she will continue to elevate our culture."
Hamlin, who averaged 27.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 4.9 steals while leading Snow Canyon High School to a Utah Class 4A state runner-up finish under Coach Sue Hoskins in 2023-24, enters her senior season as a three-time first-team all-state selection.
In her 73 career high school games, Hamlin has never scored fewer than 13 points and owns 52 20-point performances, including 24 in 26 games as a junior. Last season, Hamlin erupted for nine 30-point games, including a career-high 36 points in a state quarterfinal victory over Sky View (Feb. 26, 2024).
The next day, Hamlin pumped in 35 points on a career-high seven three-pointers, while adding six rebounds, a season-high eight assists and six steals in a win over Cedar City to advance to the state championship game against Ridgeline. She put up 30 or more points in six of Snow Canyon's final eight games, including her second career double-double with 31 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Mountain View (Feb. 22, 2024).
Hamlin's numbers have been on the rise every season at Snow Canyon, since averaging 20.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 4.7 steals over 23 games as a freshman in 2021-22. Her freshman campaign included a season-high 29 points to go along with career highs of nine assists and 12 steals in a win over Crimson Cliffs (Jan. 25, 2022).
As a sophomore, she recorded five 30-point games, including a season-high 33 points to go along with a career-high-tying 12 rebounds for her first career points-rebounds double-double against Sky View (Feb. 24, 2023). She also had 31 points and a season-high nine steals against Crimson Cliffs (Jan. 26, 2023). She finished her sophomore season averaging 23.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 4.3 steals.
Through her first three high school seasons, Hamlin has totaled 1,745 points, 307 rebounds, 233 assists and a whopping 338 steals, recording more than 100 steals in each of her three seasons including 127 as a junior. She owns career averages of 23.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 4.6 steals.
Hamlin also competed for Mountain West Premier in club basketball. She chose Nebraska over Clemson, UNLV, BYU and Virginia Tech.

"Honestly, I chose Nebraska for a couple reasons but finding the right fit for me was priority No. 1. During the recruiting process, I was super grateful to visit and see different schools, but I really connected with Coach Amy and her staff. From Coach Julian, Tandem, Jess to Jace and all the staff, they all have such a great energy and passion for the game, and it makes me feel super-pumped about what the future has in store for the Huskers. Also, one of the best parts about coming here is going to be my teammates. I feel like I've already built such strong connections with the girls on the team. They’re all so supportive and fun to be around, and I am just happy to be a part of building something special at Nebraska.
