GISH Baseball Picks Up Wildcard For State Tournament

(Lincoln, NE) - The Nebraska Schools Activities Association released the state baseball brackets on Monday night. Grand Island got some help in the A-5 district tournament with Omaha Burke defeating Millard South 8-4 giving Grand Island enough power points to be the 8th team entered into the Class A state tournament field as a wildcard. The state tournament starts on Friday, May 12th. The Islanders (12-9) will take on Millard West (29-5) at 10:00 am from Werner Park in Papillion. The winner of GI/Millard West will play Monday at 4:00 pm vs either Gretna or Creighton Prep. The two teams defeated will fall into an elimination game on Monday at 10:00 am. The bottom half of the bracket will see Lincoln East vs Bellevue West and in the other quarter-final, Elkhorn South will take on Papillion La Vista South. View a copy of the bracket below.
