Offense: Theft by Receiving Stolen Property
Victim: 37 year old female Incident #: L24050884
Offender: Erik Loya
Date and Time of Incident: 5/11/24 @ 17:41
Location of Incident: 382 N Walnut
Brief Narrative: On 05/11/2024, Officers responded to an attention units call for service referencing the locating of a stolen vehicle at 328 N Walnut Street. Upon arrival, officers would observe the vehicle parked and appeared to be unoccupied. Upon approaching the vehicle, a male would exit the passenger side front door and would begin to walk away. Officers would verbally identify themselves as Grand Island Police Department and would demand the male to stop. The male would look back at officers and would then run away from officers. Officers would recognize and know the male to be Erik Loya, from prior contacts. Officers would demand Erik to stop running and Erik would refuse to comply with demands. Erik would run into 210 W 4th Street; La Flor, where he would hit an employee with his body, causing her fear. Erik would run into the bathroom, shut the door, and would refuse to comply with officers demands to exit the bathroom. Officers would force the door open and would attempt to place Erik under arrest. Erik would tense up and would pull his arms away from officers, resisting arrest. Eventually, Erik was placed into handcuffs. While transporting Erik to the patrol vehicle, he would refuse to walk, would sit on the ground, and would need to be carried to the patrol unit, resisting arrest. Upon placing Erik into the patrol unit, he would refuse to comply with demands to put his legs inside the vehicle. Officers would obtain a patrol unit with a full cage, Erik would be forced into the patrol unit. Erik would use his feet to attempt to stop officers from closing the patrol vehicle doors. The odor of alcohol emitted from Erik's person. Officers would observe there to be several open alcohol containers in  the center console of the vehicle. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen out of Hastings, Nebraska. Upon arriving to HCDC, Erik would refuse to exit the patrol vehicle and several correctional officers would have to force Erik out of the vehicle. Erik would grab onto the seatbelts and would refuse to let go of the seatbelts. Erik would be carried into HCDC where he would be booked into HCDC for: Theft by receiving stolen property (over $1500), Resisting Arrest (2nd), Resisting Arrest (3rd), Obstruct Police, 3rd Degree Assault (menacing) and Open Alcohol Container.

Victim: J & B Rentals Incident #: L24050785
Date and Time of Incident: 5/10/24 @ 14:18
Location of Incident: 318 N Madison St
Brief Narrative: An employee of a local business reported that someone created an email account to pose as the owner of the business. The suspect then told the employee to wire/mail $29,000 to an account out of Mission, TX. Case is open.

Offense: Fail to Stop & Render Aid
Victim: 78 year old female Incident #: L24050888
Offender: Teddy Swader
Date and Time of Incident: 5/11/24 @ 19:30
Location of Incident: W 8th & N Greenwich
Brief Narrative: On 05/11/2024, officers responded to a personal injury accident near 8th and Greenwich, where a 1990 blue Jeep was flipped onto its side and a white Malibu was in a person's yard with damage to the driver side rear end. Upon arrival, it was determined that there were three occupants in the Jeep and three occupants in the Malibu. Officers made contact with one occupant of the Jeep, who advised that the other two occupants left walking to their residence down the street. Officers would observe this male to have a large scratch and fresh blood on his right arm. He would later go to the hospital to obtain an x-ray of his arm. Officers would locate the other two occupants at their registered address. It was determined that one of the occupants was a 5 year old juvenile who had a bump on his head and complained of his head hurting. The child would receive medical treatment. The other occupant was identified to be Teddy Swader, who officers know to have a revoked driver's license. A records check would confirm that Teddy has a revoked license with 6 prior convictions. The registered owner of the Jeep is one of Teddy's children. Teddy would deny driving the jeep but would only be wearing one shoe and his other shoe was located on the driver side of the Jeep. Teddy would complain of the left side of his chest having pain from the seat belt. This location of pain is consistent with the location of the driver side seat belt. Teddy would leave the scene of an injury accident and did not render aid or furnish information. Teddy was arrested and arrested for Driving During Revocation & Fail to Stop & Render Aid. 

Offense: Identity Theft
Victim: 55 year old male Incident #: L24050846
Date and Time of Incident: between 10/7/20 & 5/11/24
Location of Incident: 730 N Diers Ave
Brief Narrative: Victim reported that he was recently contacted by the U.S. Small Business Administration, advising him that an unknown individual had used his identity to secure a small business loan in the amount of approximately $140,000.00. Case is open.
