Location of Incident: 208 W 5th St; Apt 5
Brief Narrative: On 08/08/2024 around 1858 hours officers were called to 2208 W 5th St in response to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers heard a male and female yelling. It was reported that the male, who was later identified as James Akins, assaulted the female in the apartment. Both James and the victim informed officers that they have been in a relationship for three years. The victim reported that James struck her multiple times with a closed fist, strangled her, wielded two weapons against her at different times, while threatening her life. The victim felt pain, and was fearful for her life. The victim had red marks, small lacerations, and bumps present when talking to officers. During a consent search, officers would locate the weapons used, as well as drug paraphernalia, Marijuana, and Methamphetamine. James Akins was arrested for Terroristic Threats, Use Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony, DV Assault-3rd/Cause Bodily Injury/Sub, Assault by Strangulation or Suffocation, Possess Controlled Substance, Possess Marijuana =<1 ounce ; 1st off and Drug Paraphernalia.

Brief Narrative: Victim reported being scammed for over $5,000 by a suspect who befriended her and carried on an online relationship. Case is under investigation.

Date and Time of Incident: between 2/1/24 & 8/8/24
Location of Incident: 3423 Kelly St; Apt 126
Brief Narrative: On 8/8/2024 officer received a report of a vulnerable adult male being a victim of financial exploitation by his payee. Case is under investigation.
