GI Officer Arrested for DUI
A Grand Island police officer was arrested for suspicion of DUI over the weekend, Jordyn Lukasiewicz. The investigation into the incident is underway. Given this development, we wanted to pass along this written statement from Grand Island Police Chief Kevin Denney:
---
Over the weekend, we did have one of our GIPD officers arrested for suspicion of DUI. The DUI investigation is being performed by the Nebraska State Patrol. The officer in question is currently on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. The police department takes these allegations seriously, and it is an unfortunate situation. I remind you the officer, like everyone else, is entitled to their rights under the law.
It is important for everyone to recognize the dangers of driving intoxicated and the consequences that come with it.

There will be no further comment from Chief Denney or any other staff at the police department at this time due to this being an ongoing investigation.
