GI Man Arrested for Sex Offense
On 08/17/2024 at 6:40 PM the Hall County Sheriffs Office responded to an address within Grand Island city limits reference a possible sex offense. During the investigation it was determined Jared Stockwell, 47 years of age, of Grand Island NE, sent indecent, lewd, lascivious, and obscene messages that were sexual in nature to a 13-year-old female.
On 08/28/2024 a warrant for Stockwell’s arrest was issued. On 08/28/2024 at approximately 11:17 AM, Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies contacted Stockwell, and he was placed under arrest for the following offences.
- Enticement by Electronic Communication Device 28-833 (Class IV Felony)
- Child Abuse 28-707 (Class IIIA Felony)
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has asked the courts to seal the affidavits in this case, as we do with similar cases involving juvenile victims. The investigations is ongoing.
Stockwell is a city of Grand Island employee. Here's a comment from GI City administrator Laura McAloon.
"Public trust and confidence in the employees of the City of Grand Island is an essential element of the services we provide to our residents. The City will participate in a complete and thorough investigation of the charges against Jared Stockwell. This is an ongoing criminal investigation involving a City employee and we appreciate your understanding that we are unable to discuss this matter. There will be no further comments from the City on the investigation or the employee."
