Cats split Saturday Matinee with Cardinals.

St Paul Basketball 2

The St. Paul Wildcat Basketball teams hit the road for the first time this season as they hit the road down Highway 281 to Doniphan to take on the Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals.

On the Girl's side D-T got off to an early 9-7 start paced by Logan Rainforth and Charlee Richter in the first quarter before the Cats were able to comeback with a 12-7 second quarter behind an Addy Wegner 3 pointer and never look back taking a 19-16 lead into halftime. The 10-4 3rd quarter provided enough distance between the Cats and Cards for St. Paul to come away with the victory as D-T went on a late run but fell short 39-31 giving the St. Paul Girls their first 2-0 start since 2021-2022.

Addy Wegner takes Runza MVP with her clutch 3 that St. Paul never trailed after she hit that shot in the 2nd quarter.

The Boy's side of things went the way of the home team as St. Paul looking for a little revenge on The Cardinals for ending their season last year weren't able to get redemption Saturday as Doniphan-Trumbull erupted for an early 24-7 lead in the first quarter as the Cats were able to slow the pace down in the final 3 frames the 17 point spread from the 1st quarter proved to be to much as D-T took a halftime lead of 40-16. The Cats actually outscored the Cardinals 26-24 but fall to 1-1 as The Red Birds take the 64-42 victory for their first win of 2024 while St. Paul evens their record out at 1-1.

Levi Bader takes Runza MVP with 10 points in the contest and was a key contributor on the floor for St. Paul.

Next action for the Blue and Gold comes on Thursday as St. Paul heads to Wood River. The Game can be heard live on Country 96.
